Champs Season is Here!!!!
We are entering a very exciting (but
sometimes confusing) time of the short course season....CHAMPS
SEASON!! You may have some questions regarding meet entry
procedure, and hopefully this email will answer some of your
questions.
Within our Lake Erie District, we offer
four (4) different Championship Meets: 8-Under Champs, Bronze
Champs, Silver Champs and Gold Champs.
8-Under Championships: Sunday, February
21st at Youngstown State University (Beeghley Center
Natatorium)
8-Under Championships is an open meet (no
time standards), and is designated for all swimmers under the age
of 8. We encourage all of our 8-Under swimmers to sign up for this
meet. It is a very well run, very fun meet and is a great
celebration of our young swimmers in the Lake Erie District. The
meet is hosted at Youngstown State University (good pool, adequate
seating), and will be held on Sunday, February 21st. Again, there
are no time standards for this meet, but you must have a legal time
to swim an event. "NT" or "no times" will not be accepted, and
therefore will not be entered. (Please note, a swimmer can
qualify for Silver or Gold Champs at this meet.)
We will post an entry report on our
website and on the bulletin board at the pool, to notify swimmers
of their selected events, and relay
possibilities.
Bronze Championships: Sunday,
February 28th at University of Akron (Ocasek
Natatorium)
Bronze Champs is a "slower than" time
standard meet - which means times must be slower than the time
listed on the meet information, we encourage all swimmers who
qualify to swim this meet. Please commit your swimmer to this
event, if you think they may have qualifying times.
If your swimmer's time appears in red on
our team website, when you click to commit for the event - then
they do not qualify to swim that event at Bronze
Champs. The qualifying standards are listed in the
meet information file located on our website, and on the Lake Erie
swimming website. There is a "proof of time requirement" for
all events, so "NT" will not be entered, no times will be made up.
You must qualify for this meet in advance of our date of entry.
Once entries are completed, we will post an entry report on our
website and on the bulletin board at the pool, to notify swimmers
of their selected events, and relay possibilities. **Please
note, a swimmer can qualify for Silver and Gold Champs at this
meet. Silver Champ entries are due BEFORE Bronze
Champs; if a swimmer should qualify for Silver Champs, it is the
responsibility of the parent to sign their child up for Silver
Champs, or to add an additional event. There will be a table
available at Bronze Champs to do that. If a swimmer qualifies for
Gold Champs, at Bronze Champs - the coaching staff will complete
their meet entry.
Silver Championships: Friday,
March 5-Sunday, March 7 at University of Akron (Ocasek
Natatorium)
Silver Champs is a "faster than" and
"slower than" time standard meet, which means your swimmer's entry
time must fit inbetween the two time standards provided on the meet
entry information. If your swimmer's time appears in red on our
team website, when you click to commit for the event - then they do
not qualify to swim that event at Silver Champs. We encourage all
swimmers who qualify to swim this meet. Please commit your
swimmer to this event, if you think they may have qualifying times.
The qualifying standards are listed in the meet information file
located on our website, and on the Lake Erie swimming

12-Sunday, March 14 at Cleveland State University (Busbey
Natatorium)
Gold Champs is a time standard meet, we
encourage all swimmers who qualify to swim this meet. This is the
fastest championship meet offered in our District each short course
season. This year entries for this meet will be completed
online, (BY THE COACHING STAFF) at USASWIMMING.ORG. Please
commit your swimmer to this event, if you think they may have
qualifying times. If your swimmer's time appears in red on
our team website, when you click to commit for the event - then
they do not qualify to swim that event at Gold
Champs. The qualifying standards are listed in the
meet information file located on our website, and on the Lake Erie
swimming website. There is a "proof of time requirement" for
all events, so "NT" will not be entered, no times will be made up.
You must qualify for this meet in advance of our date of entry.
Entries will be completed the evening of Silver Champs (3/7/10) We
will post an entry report on our website and on the bulletin board
at the pool, to notify swimmers of their selected events, and relay
possibilities.
